The Process of Person Centered Thinking

Person Centered Thinking is a guided process for learning how someone wants to live and for developing a plan to help make it happen.

It is also:

A blueprint for how to support someone;

A way of structuring meetings to ensure that everyone is heard;

A way of organizing and communicating what is important to an individual in "user friendly " plain language;

A flexible process that can be used in combination with other person-centered planning techniques; and,

A way of making sure that the persons is heard, regardless of the severity of his or her disability.

So how, is this different from traditional planning?

The difference is that the person, family and those who care about him or her are at the center of the team... not the program or the professional.
