Autism Organizations and Websites January 5, 2018 The National Autism Center Spearheads the National Standards Project to identify scientific standards to evaluate educational and behavioral interventions for individuals with ASD. This site also has a link to receive evidence-based standards when published. CAPTAIN CAPTAIN is a multiagency network developed to support the understanding and use of Evidence Based Practices for individuals affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder across the state. Autism Research Centre The mission of the ARC is to understand the biomedical causes of autism spectrum conditions, and develop new and validated methods for assessment and intervention. The ARC fosters collaboration between scientists in Cambridge University and outside, to accelerate this mission. Insurance Help for Autism This site provides step-by-step information to guide parents in accessing their private insurance to fund autism services as mandated by the Mental Health Parity Act, also known as AB 88. Autism Internet Modules This is a new free training site with video demonstrations of various interventions, assessments, and associated research. New modules will be developed for all evidence based practices as part of the National Standards Project. Association for Science in Autism Treatment Recommended by Dr. Gina Green, this site has a searchable list of interventions with descriptions and summary of the available research. Autism Speaks This site is continually updated to provide a wide range of resources including news, research, advocacy, events, guides and tool kits. Autism Speaks: Technology Central This section of their site links to Autism Apps, technology and Autism Webinar series and Technology Resources of the Month. Autism Speaks: Tool Kits This section offers downloadable publications on topics including the 100 Day Kit, Asperger Syndrome, Behavioral Health treatments, medications, sleep and others. National Institute of Mental Health The NIMH has produced this detailed booklet that describes Autism symptoms, causes, and treatments, with information on getting help and coping. The Autism Phenome Project (APP) The unique contribution to autism research that the Autism Phenome Project provides has been appreciated by scientists and funding organizations alike. Many researchers and organizations are using data from the APP to uncover the mysteries of the disorder. Autism Watch The purpose of Autism Watch is to provide a scientific perspective on the many aspects of autism. This Web site is for families of autistic children (including adult children), practitioners treating autistic patients, and anyone else with an interest in autism. Quack Watch Quackwatch is now an international network of people who are concerned about health-related frauds, myths, fads, fallacies, and misconduct. Its primary focus is on quackery-related information that is difficult or impossible to get elsewhere. The Grey Center Carol Grey The Gray Center strives to promote social understanding between individuals with autism spectrum disorders and those who interact with them in the home, school, workplace and community. Autism Society of America This grassroots autism organization provides the latest information on treatment, education, research and advocacy regarding day-to-day issues faced by people with autism and those who care about them. The site provides Spanish information as well. UC Davis MIND Institute Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities Autism Distance Education Parent Training (ADEPT) is a 10 lesson course in strategies to teach functional skills developed for parents by the MIND Institute. Autism Society of Santa Barbara Local Santa Barbara Chapter of the Autism Society of Americe, with information regarding ways for families in Santa Barbara County to get involved, gain knowledge and support and meet other individuals affected by autism. Autism Society Ventura County Local Autism Society Chapter with local resources, events, activities and support opportunities for individuals with autism and those who care for them. UCLA Center on Autism Research and Treatment (CART) The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior conducts research and seeks to develop effective strategies for prevention and treatment of neurological, psychiatric and behavioral disorders. The site includes resources on college for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Stanford Autism Center at Packard Children’s Hospital The Stanford Autism Center provides diagnosis, treatment, research and support resources for families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. DDS Autism Reports & Guides The Department of Developmental Services posts best practice guidelines and various Autism reports. Advancing Futures for Adults with Autism Advancing Futures for Adults with Autism is a nationwide initiative working to develop resources in housing, employment and community awareness for the more than 500,000 individuals with autism who will become adults in the next 10-15 years.
