CalFresh (Food Stamps)
The CalFresh program helps people who have very low or no income to buy nutritious groceries. CalFresh benefits are provided through the use of an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card that is used like a bank debit card to buy food at most grocery stores. Apply online with the California Department of Social Services CalFresh program. 
TCRC staff are working with Rainbow, Alpha & Parents Helping Parents to schedule times to assist families and individuals to apply for CalFresh, If you need assistance, contact your local Family Resource center or your Service Coordinator.
Individuals who receive SSI are now eligible for CalFresh benefits. Individuals with disabilities may deduct medical expenses which may increase your food benefits.
People with disabilities are not subject to the gross income test (200% FPL), they are only required to meet the net income test (100% FPL). The net income of a household it’s income after all allowable deductions under the CalFresh rules have been subtracted.
