Individuals with developmental disabilities living in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara or Ventura counties should apply for services. Unfortunately, people who have only psychiatric or learning disabilities are not eligible to receive services. Our intake process may require some diagnostic testing and evaluation and will require gathering of information from physicians, schools and other services agencies. We have 120 days to determine your eligibility.
Once you are found eligible, your case will be assigned to a Service Coordinator (case worker). Your Service Coordinator will reach out to you within 60 days. Your Service Coordinator is trained to help you determine the best plan for your support. Your Individual Program Plan (IPP) meeting is a great time for planning. You may choose who you would like to attend your IPP meeting. Your Service Coordinator will be there, along with your circle of support.
As a regional center, we are committed to Person Centered Practices. This keeps YOU at the center of the decision-making process. Our Services are not “one-size-fits-all” but are individually designed. The services and supports that we can fund varies by need, age, and what is available in the community. You will have a direct line of contact with your Service Coordinator, who will help you plan for any upcoming service transitions and answer any questions along the way. Sometimes our staff get promoted or change, or move out of the area. If you don’t know who your new Service Coordinator is, call your local TCRC office.
Person Centered Thinking (PCT) is a philosophy we are committed to for individuals with developmental disabilities, letting them share their experiences, wants, needs, hopes, dreams, and goals in a safe space. At its core, PCT allows us to put individuals first, listening carefully and learning who they are and what they want from life, then working together to set goals, create personalized plans, and put them into practice. This philosophy helps us learn what is important TO and important FOR the people we serve.
We regularly hold in-person Town Hall meetings in each county where you can connect with families, contribute to POS information, and share ideas with your TCRC community. Join us at the next meeting to have a chance to hear from our Leadership Team and ask questions.
We would love to have you join our Board of Directors. Join an upcoming Board Meeting and learn more by watching our Board Recruitment Video. Contact the Board President with questions.
At TCRC, we serve diverse cultural, racial, and ethnic groups with different languages, values, and identities. We strive to always improve your experience with us, so we crafted a yearly Language Access and Cultural Competency Survey (LACCP). Through this, we learn more about our community and provide better services that are linguistically and culturally relevant to you. Your voice matters—speak up and take our LACCP survey. Watch for your survey link by email each Spring.
It only takes 5 minutes for you to help us develop TCRC’s 2022-2024 Strategic Performance Plan. This survey lets you share your thoughts about matters such as Family Support, Cultural Proficiency, Employment, Community Outreach, Self-Directed Services, and other issues that matter most to you. This happens only once every 3 years, so don’t miss out on giving us your feedback. Join our email list to get notified when this survey is open.
Every year, we hold a Community Resource Development Plan Stakeholder Survey that aims to rank the priorities of our community resource needs. We can then evaluate our finances and start up your funding requests. Join our email list to get notified when this survey is open.
Our Annual Services and Supports Satisfaction Survey helps us get your feedback on how satisfied you are with what we’re doing. This includes our service coordinators, staff, information accessibility, and other important matters. When you participate in the survey, you help us support our strategic planning, improve our communication with you, measure your satisfaction, and more. Each year about half of the people we serve are invited to join. Watch for survey links in email each August.
We are always looking for feedback and want to make our services better for you. If you have any complaints and concerns in mind, please visit this page to learn how you can share your thoughts.
