Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment Program (EPSDT) is an important source of funding for selected public health services, and is a resource for children with Medi-Cal to age 21. EPSDT is intended to detect delays, disabilities, and to minimize problems by treating conditions and diseases early. Eligible individuals are pregnant women, newborns and children requiring health care and health care assistance. Parents and advocates are encouraged to confirm Medi-Cal qualification and to request screening and follow-up treatment or intervention. EPSDT services can go beyond what Medi-Cal usually covers.
